Many people have asked me about the coverage of the economy correction (I like to say correction, not collapse) and presidential election. Unlike the coverage of the Olympics, which was pathetic... the US economy and the election, is HUGE here. In fact, people everywhere like to discuss it. The news coverage is terrific. The entire planet is interested in the US economy, because it quite simply affects everyone. Everyone realizes the importance of this election as well. The debates were covered live and analysis was very good (and refreshing to see without any slant whatsoever!). They even show Saturday Night Live here with a live feed - and people here are all a buzz about Tina Fey's spot-on impersonation of Palin.
We voted absentee, of course, this election, and were hoping it would be a close race so that our votes might decide it all!! We watched the election results roll in this morning over coffee and I must say how elegant and inspiring I thought Obama's speech was. If you didn't get to see it, you should check it out online.
Let's see how this change might jump start the economy!!
DID YOU KNOW...
That this election, voters came out in record numbers, with an amazing 64% of registered voters participating.
DID YOU ALSO KNOW...
That in Australia, on average, they have a 95% voter participation! They have incentive... non-voters get hauled into court and face a fine of $100!! It's a fact.
